Dynamic simulation of a parallel-plate electrochemical ̄uorination reactor

چکیده

A time-dependent mathematical model of a parallel-plate reactor was developed to study the electrochemical ̄uorination of organic compounds dissolved in anhydrous hydrogen ̄uoride. The model incorporates two-phase ̄ow with di€erential material, energy and pressure balances. Dynamic results are presented that show the e€ect of disturbances to the whole reactor or one of the cells of the multicell reactor. The e€ect of disturbances in the cell current and inlet electrolyte ̄ow rate on the cell voltage, molar ̄ow rates, and current eciency is studied. Also, the e€ect of a blockage in inlet ̄ow to one cell in the cell pack is studied for cases when heat transfer is either present and absent between the adjoining cells.
